November/December – details of upcoming lunchtime concerts – Wednesdays at 12.30pm
6th Beacon Piano Trio – Anna Cockroft (violin) Ruth Lass (cello) and Joyce Clarke (piano) The “Beacons” have been coming to us ever since the Lunchtime Concerts were started although Ruth is the only member who has played with them from the start. We keep asking them to come back as they are such excellent players and always give us a concert which is well worthy of support. They will be coming again on 4th March next year.
13th Bel Canto Singers. This is a group who have not performed for us before. They are a mixed group of men and women who usually sing A Capella (unaccompanied) Their conductor, Alan Boxer is a member of Wood Farm Wind Quintet who themselves are coming to us on 25th March.
20th Phil Bonser (clarinet) and Dorothy Raven (piano). Again this duo are making a welcome return visit. Phil has been to us quite a few times over the years and is a brilliant clarinettist whilst Dorothy has been before but not so often as Phil. She is an accomplished accompanist.
27th Joyce Clarke (piano). This will be a solo piano recital by Joyce who is also the pianist with the Beacon Piano Trio. Her programmes always delight out audience so you shouldn’t need much persuading to come! Piano solo is always popular and usually draws a very good audience.
4th December. Melanie Mehta and friends. They are hoping to sing Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols” and other items with a Christmas flavour. Melanie again has sung for us before.
After this concert there is a break until 8th January when Nina Leonard-Savicevic will be playing a piano recital.
All are welcome at any of the concerts with tea and coffee available in our hall from 12 noon with the concerts starting at 12.30 for about three quarters of an hour. There is always a retiring collection with the balance going to a church project after the artists have been given their “expenses”.
